Frequently asked questions

Got questions about how we work? Here are answers to our most common inquiries regarding our tutoring services, locations, and booking procedures.

What grade levels do you tutor?

We work with students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Whether your child needs early phonics support or upper-middle school math and science prep, our sessions are tailored to their specific developmental stage.

Which subjects do you cover?

We offer focused guidance in reading and writing, math, spelling, social studies, and science. We can focus on a single subject or provide homework help across multiple academic areas during regular sessions.

Where do tutoring sessions take place?

We serve families across Staten Island. Sessions can be held in your home, at a local Staten Island public library, or at another agreed-upon community space where your child feels comfortable and focused.

Who are the tutors?

Our sessions are led by Caroline Profeta and Grace Benna, two college sophomores, studying Elementary Education, passionate about helping elementary and middle schoolers thrive. To learn more about our background and teaching styles, visit our About our tutors page.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Cancelation? No problem! Please provide a 12 hour notice for cancelations by emailing us!

How do I book an appointment?

Booking is simple! You can reach out directly via our contact form or email us discuss your child's needs. We will then send you an inquiry form to gain a better understading of your child. From there, we will coordinate a weekly schedule that fits your family's routine.

How much does tutoring cost?

We offer transparent and competitive rates, as well as multi-session packages designed for ongoing support. Please view our Pricing & packages page for a full breakdown of options.

How long is a typical tutoring session?

Most sessions run for 45 to 60 minutes, which we have found is the optimal duration for Pre-K through 8th graders to stay engaged and retain new concepts without feeling overwhelmed.

Can you help with test preparation and homework?

Yes! We assist students with daily homework assignments, project work, and preparation for classroom quizzes or standardized state exams in reading, math, and science.

Do both tutors attend my child's session or can I request one in specific?

No, both tutors do NOT attend your child's session. One of us will be assigned based on material and our availibility. You may request either Caroline or Grace, but please be sure to communicate that and email us at thinkandthrivetutoring1@gmail.com
